My Friend, Neitha.. what's her name means?

Hello, everyone here~
Today, I wanna tell you about my friends in Indonesia.
She is Neitha, I had introduced her last time~
This time, let’s talk about our name.

Of cause, there are so many types of name in different culture.
For the simplest one, Chinese name and those people from Western is totally different type.
So even in Asia, here we are from different counties and different cultures.

Neitha is from Indonesia. This country is full of different races like my country, Malaysia. Most of the people are Muslim. Both of their language is similar. That’s why I can communicate with Neitha in our familiar language. ^^
Indra Rohma Yunita is her origin name and also given from her parents and it means something like a love from her mother eye.
For the surname, Neitha said not everyone in her country have a surname like Chinese.

In my country, Malaysia, most of the Muslims are Malay. They culture of the family name is using dad’s name to become his or her family name.
For example, Aman Bin Azlan is a father, his surname is Azlan, Bin means Boy (Binti means girl). His son name will be Juah Bin Aman, Aman will become his surname.
As Neitha said, her surname came from his father name. But usually they won’t use it; they just use it when necessary like marriage or haji.

In Indonesia, people usually give the name of his son in according with the meaning of the name they want. Actually in Muslim, they have a list of name which have meaning, just same as Christian name.

But in some culture in Indonesia, they have different ways to name their children.
Like Batak culture, they give their family name behind their own name. Neitha said his boyfriend named in this way, his family is come from his grandfather name.

Indonesia history has quite a long time already; some of the culture story of naming babies has gone. All we can know is there are very interesting story behind the name in different culture.

But I think "Name" is the 1st present that our parents gave to us, it means a wish to us.
They hope "Name" will bring us a good life as the name means.

This might be a big topic to let us discovery by ourselves if we are interested. ^^
Anyway, I knew it some of the naming system in Indonesia from Neitha had told me. I believe that what I told her also will be interested to her. We are from a country which full of different cultures, there’s really an opportunity to let us knew more.

I read your posted about the meaning of Nita's name, I new know that Nita's name has a beautiful meaning "a love from her mother eye" it's so nice Smile

and you're right, Indonesia has many culture, so that for naming the baby, every culture have their own way for it Smile

I think that in Malaysia, most of the people giving the name of their baby by Muslim name, right ?

oh yar... actually i think the meaning was great~ because the meaning is unique and speacial as i saw.
as my culture, always bless baby healthty or happy.. something like this...
oh ya..
most of them will naming their kids in muslim name... but some of them will change the spelling ~ ^^ Razz
